Context provided to Aera before generation: Most of the creative writers are deceived in the cinema industry. Raj is a detective agent who wants to find out the solution to this striking and ever-growing problem.
Let me introduce myself, first my dear fellows. They call me Raj. I am a private detective and I work for the lawful copyright protection agency. I am currently investigating the case of stolen scripts in the film industry. It is not a very new case. It is an old case related to incidents that happened more than two years ago.
'Aishini Film Productions' and film-making company was very successful at that time. They produce many blockbuster movies. The movies were made on such a big scale by popular actors and actresses starring in the films. Movies like "Varama Saabama", "Tomato Rice", "Irutil Velicham", "Kovam Konden" and many others earned good box office collections. But in 2001 a film called "Thathavoda veedu" got released.
The movie we thought initially a flop, became a huge success. It had 22 crores of budget and it earned 130 crores of box office collections. It was a horror-comedy movie. It had a great story and a good screenplay. The critics loved the movie. The movie made a profit because it was distributed so well. But, before the movie screened in the theatres, there was a strange controversy that came out of the blue.
A guy named "Mohen" came up to say that the script for "Thathavoda veedu" was indeed his own script and he felt cheated that his hard-work went all in vain as his script was stolen. The company people didn't have any answers. They could not handle this issue. People thought that maybe it might be a conspiracy case against the production company. But this was certainly a big hit in the media. The name of the producer and the writer became controversial. Then the entire issue ended with a big reward paid to "Mohen" who claimed his script was stolen. There was still some question about who presented the screenplay for the movie "Thathavoda veedu" to the production company, after all.
After that, the board members discussed the situation and they became aware of the importance of originality of the work. They decided to look into their past movies. They discovered that many of their movies were stolen. The stolen scripts were used in stories of the previous films. The main reason for this was lack of recognition during the contract between scriptwriter and the producer. Often people working in the industry do not know their rights. In these dealings, the original scriptwriters are paid a very limited amount.
Because of this reason these original scriptwriters used to give away their copyrights at a cost. Sometimes they do not even know about it. They are cheated by both the producer and the audience. Finally, they are cheated by both sides. Sometime later this production company decided to take action like all the cases that are included in the script of their latest blockbuster movie called "Bootham - The Next-Gen".
After that, a team came into action that included the president and CEO of the production company. They noticed that the cost of replacing the stolen script is very high. They searched for a long time for some original scripts. They hired some of the best writers and hired them for their own production. Finally, they came up with a decision and handed an action plan to the writers. However, my story starts when President of the production company unofficially approached me to start an investigation on the previously stolen scripts - especially the script for the movie "Thathavoda veedu". Let me relate to you the incidents exactly how they occurred.
That night it was raining very heavily. I was taking a shower when my wife received a telephone call from someone and the line got cut, all of a sudden. It seemed strange. After bathing, I went to join my wife. We both got dressed and went to the guest room. It seemed strange that nobody was there. My personal secretary also didn't inform me that anyone was coming to meet me.
My wife and I sat down in the room and we started talking about our planned trip to Paris. The conversation stopped abruptly as there was a loud knock on the main-door. My wife walked towards the hall and opened the door. A tall gentleman came into the room. He looked to be a very handsome man in a smart rain-coat. He was in a very bad mood and he was very tired. After he entered the room he asked for a glass of water and my wife went in to bring him one. I asked the gentleman to be seated as he gave me his card. In the card, it was mentioned that he was the President of "Aishini Film Productions".
"What can I do for you, Sir?", I asked as my wife barged in with the glass of water in her hand and she kept in on the teapoy.
The President took a long time to decide to say what he really wanted. After drinking the glass of water, he told me what he wanted. He said that he had met some Police officials, and asked me to help him. So I asked him about the reason for his enquiry. He told me that he was forced to get some information regarding the successful movie "Thathavoda Veedu" which was released in 2001, two years back.
He had heard about a film producer in his production house who had stolen the original screenplay and his film received a huge success. It was known that the original writer registered his complaint with the cops initially regarding this, had also won the case and got rewarded. "See, Raj, this case I thought initially was just like one of the normal case-files", said the president looking a little shocked. "Until today, because the scriptwriter "Mohen" the man who was the media sensation two years ago - was found to be murdered in his Ooty cottage home today morning". I was taken aback hearing the President's words and at the same time, the cuckoo clock hanging in my guest room struck ten and cuckooed.
